This is a song about what it means to have a home. It was recorded by a group
of South African children from many different kinds of homes: some living
with one or both parents, others from orphanages, and a few who stay entirely
on their own, without parents or guardians.

Founded in Durban, South Africa in 1993, Vuleka Productions
produces film, TV/video, radio/audio, print and interactive, specialising
in social issues and media for and about children. Vuleka is led by Madoda
Ncayiyana and Julie Frederikse, a unique partnership bringing together the
perspectives of black and white, African language and English, male and female.
Vuleka is currently in production on a 52-minute documentary
funded by the National Film and Video Foundation, which provides a unique
perspective on the lives of our country’s orphaned children, entitled
A Child is a Child (because of other people). Vuleka’s other documentaries
include Just a Little Smile, funded by the Ford Foundation, as well as programming
for the European Union, United Nations, International Planned Parenthood Association
and Amnesty International. Vuleka produces radio, audio and print and conducts
training, research and media campaigns around social issues for government,
foundations and NGOs in southern Africa and internationally.
